Jet Fresh Flowers was established in 2008 operating as an importer and distributor of fresh-cut wholesale flowers to the trade. They later opened their Ecuadorian branch office where they supply flowers internationally through Jet Fresh Global Trading. Shortly after, they opened the Jet Fresh Cash and Carry flower market in our Miami office to service the growing local floral market. The response has been great and they’ve continued to grow their Miami office since. In March 2018 they became growers of a boutique rose farm in Cotopaxi, Ecuador almost 2,900 meters high. Their team has more than doubled in size, andthey are excited to see what’s in store for the future.

This is an interview with Jimi The Tulip, Account Manager at Jet Fresh.

I am Jimi “The Tulip” account manager here at Jet Fresh Flowers. I have been in the floral business since 1988. Starting off as a driver in a retail shop and working my way through the business as a designer, event planner, ops manager for a busy event company et al and finally finding a home in sales. My main role here is foster relationships with event planners, retailers and wholesalers alike to ensure that their floral needs are met. In many instances, these professional relationships often turn into personal ones as well.

And what products/services you provide.

We here at Jet Fresh, supply a great variety of top wholesale and event flowers, as well as rare and hard-to-find products from around the world. We specialize greatly in fresh-cut natural flowers and greenery available in natural and color-enhanced varieties. We’ve also been expanding our line of preserved flowers, including preserved roses available with and without unique packaging options for our customers’ needs.

Being in the heart of the floral epicenter, with lots of other vendors selling to the floral industry, what sets Jet Fresh apart from other vendors?

Jet Fresh Flowers is a family-owned and operated importer, distributor, wholesaler supplying a wide range of fresh-cut and preserved flowers for wholesale and events. We have 4 generations of flower experience in-house which allows us to operate with a unique perspective having been involved in many areas of the floral industry. We’ve also expanded our reach by becoming rose growers, ourselves producing natural and color-enhanced roses Ecuadorian roses.

Who is your ideal client/customer?

Our ideal customers are members of the floral trade who work with flowers for the purpose of resale. This includes wholesalers, retail florists, floral designers and event professionals who are interested in fresh-cut and preserved flowers and greenery.

What do you love most about what you do?

What I personally love is that using my 30+ years’ experience, I can guide customers on what their floral needs are. Where they are new in the floral game or have been in the game for years, it is great to be able to bounce ideas off customers. They often have a sense of relief knowing that I am just not another body sitting behind a computer pushing boxes and trying to make a commission. I actually have a genuine concern for their needs.

What has been the biggest surprise (or most exciting) in your business?

With all the changes the world has experienced over the past 18 months+ especially with events, how has Jet Fresh been able to stay relevant/busy?

Since we became rose growers, we’ve been very involved in not just growing amazing roses, but also color-enhancing them as well. Our line of Hippy Psychedelic Roses launched in the summer of 2020, and we’ve been proudly producing our own unique varieties for our customers located all around the world.

What trends have you noticed in the Floral industry that have had the biggest impact on how you do business today?

I would have to say that the BOHO trend and the Preserved rose trend has had a huge impact. When the virus hit and people were forced to stay home, many people made the best of the situation and starting dabbling in dried and preserved because of the longevity of the product.

What’s one thing you would like to change about how people do business today compared to when you started or even the past 18 months?

Probably the biggest change would be that people understand the challenges the industry is facing and pass that info on to their clients. I often advised my customers, especially event customer, never promise a variety (for roses especially). Often times specific varieties become high in demand and production becomes difficult thereby making it almost impossible to get. Flexibility is the key these days.

What’s one thing you would like people reading this interview to know about you? Jet Fresh Floral Distributors?

The flower industry has always been personal and trust-based. We still value this ideology, and continue to operate with the same level of quality and care.

What’s next for you?
